Regional IT Infrastructure Engineer

Server Infrastructure duties

• Responsible for the installation, configuration and customisation of server operating systems including the SAN platform.
• Responsible for specification and procurement of HP servers.
• Carry out daily administration and preventative maintenance procedures.
• Ensure that applications are covered by maintenance contracts and Service Level agreements where necessary.
• Carry out problem recognition, determination and resolution liaising with vendors as required.
• IT Security and related audits
• Assist in Database administration duties.
• Assist in the management of Disaster Recovery plan and procedures in support of the Business Recovery Plan.
• Undertake performance, resource monitoring and tuning of servers.
• Implement backup and recovery strategy and ensure daily procedures run smoothly and efficiently.
• Direct computer operations with respect to facilities control, recovery systems and storage management.

Network Infrastructure and Security duties

• Understand and assist in managing group network security policies.
• Assist in day-to-day administration and maintenance of Proxy systems.
• Assist in troubleshooting configuration of all firewalls.
• Mentor, liaise with and assist Helpdesk and Application Support teams with daily issues, problems,and tasks.
• Assist in preparation and execution of DR testing and planning from a network security perspective.
• Carry out all administration and implementations with a full understanding of the bigger picture,constantly considering network security issues.
• Monitor LAN/WAN network traffic and business critical services.
• Operate independently in resolving all but the most complex of network problems.
• Assist in the design and planning of systems and network.
• Liaise with other system areas, business units and outside vendors.
• Carry out regular tests of recovery process and appropriate parts of the DR plan.
