About Our Client

Michael Page are working with a global pharmaceutical business to recruit an Engineering Manager for their site near Wakefield. This global pharmaceuticals manufacturer has c.30 manufacturing and R&D sites and a commercial presence in over 40 countries.

Job Description

You will be tasked with managing and leading the Engineering team to deliver all maintenance activities and capital projects to the highest of standards and meeting all regulatory requirements. You will:

  • Plan and execute maintenance activity to ensure plant is kept safe and compliant
  • Develop planning and prioritisation processes to ensure that multi-disciplinary resource is well aligned to maximise delivery of projects
  • Coach, develop and lead the core team of engineering staff to maximise delivery of the highest priority projects required for the site
  • Drive improvements in reliability for key aspects of plant by completing reliability studies and identifying best planned maintenance strategy
  • Complete RCA's, identify and implement preventative actions
  • Ensure engineering work is executed in compliance with business, regulatory, costs and timescales required
  • Provide project management to cross functional activity required for project execution
  • Ensure any appropriate regulations are adhered to for all engineering and operational activity, COMAH, PSSR, DSEAR, PUWER, HASAWA, CDM, local planning and building regulations etc
  • Be a strong leader and ensure team remain motivated to achieve KPI's and objectives
  • Identify and develop continuous improvement opportunity across site
  • Liaise with Engineering team to ensure minimal downtime
  • Effectively communicate supporting functions and other members of the SLT

The Successful Applicant

This successful Engineering Manager will possess a range of the following:

  • Experience within either Chemical processing or pharmaceutical manufacturing is highly desirable
  • Working knowledge of regulatory key regulatory aspects
  • Working knowledge of COMAH regulations
  • Demonstrable experience in leading multiple projects including budgetary implementations
  • Ability to manage multiple engineering activities through to successful completion at the same time
  • Proven ability to align, engage and motivate team members and demonstrate high levels of emotional intelligence to support workforce development
  • Detailed knowledge of engineering validation lifecycle URS, DQ, IQ, OQ, FATs and SATs
  • Ideally degree qualified (or equivalent) in relevant field
