The client is a non-profit organisation based in York.

Job Description

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Managing a variety of different types/sizes of projects at one time.
  • Identifying risks issues and challenges and designing an appropriate implementation plan to combat these.
  • Migrating an element of the business over to SharePoint.
  • Significant involvement managing a Pension Scheme review project.
  • Reporting into the PMO, aligning them self with the PMO's policies and practices.
  • Project manage a portfolio of small and medium projects on behalf of the Project Sponsor and PMO.
  • Develop realistic project plans with defined resources and deliverables.
  • Identify and manage risks to the success of the project, escalating issues in line with PMO Project Management methodologies.
  • Working closely with the finance business partner and project sponsor, managing the budget and resources allocated to the project, ensuring value for money.
  • Work with sponsors to identify and plan for the delivery of associated financial and non-financial benefits.
  • Producing reports as appropriate for Projects Programme Board, PMO and Project Sponsors, tracking project progress, problems, and solutions.
  • Providing advice and coaching/mentoring in project management activities and leadership to the cross-functional project team.
  • Contribute to and adhere to the agreed PMO approach and timetable, providing appropriate information to agreed targets of time line and accuracy.
  • Maintain appropriate project library to ensure efficient and auditable running of the project.
  • Use stakeholder mapping to develop strong communication and engagement plans which recognise the requirements of different groups and individuals.
  • Use insight, feedback, performance, and financial information proactively to shape the workstreams and project direction.
  • Design and deliver lessons learned workshops throughout the project.
  • Recommend and implement continuous improvement in relation to PMO project tools and processes.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will have:



  • Experience being a part of an effective matrix project team in a variety of project environment.


  • Project management experience including evidence of managing a number of small / medium projects simultaneously.


  • Demonstrable delivery experience and understanding across a wide range of business, technical and financial projects and able to demonstrate effective use of tools and techniques.


  • Oversight of multiple workstreams involving cross functional teams.


  • Experience in managing multiple stakeholders ensuring appropriate communication and engagement.


  • Planning experience using a variety of tools and techniques.


  • Coordinating project/event activity within a busy organisation and potentially multiple locations.


  • Experience of project reporting.
