Head of Financial Accounting

The key responsibilities of the Head of Financial Accounting :

To develop and lead the Financial Accounting and Payroll function. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality financial and statutory accounts and ensuring all internal controls, processes, procedures and policies are followed.

• Improve and implement financial controls and processes, ensuring statutory and regulatory requirements are met
• Oversee all financial transactions for the organisation, leading the team and ensuring all transactions are efficiently and effectively carried out on a timely basis
• Be the main point of contact for the external auditors
• Line manage the Payroll Manager and Financial Accounting Manager, indirectly overseeing their teams.
• Build effective working relationships with external and internal stakeholders
• Ensure all income is collected, working closely with the Finance Business Partners and overseeing cash management and cash flow
• Complete all regulatory returns in a timely manner
• Ensure there are adequate controls over fixed assets and support on the management of capital grants
• Responsible for ensuring that all financial requirements are met across all of the statutory and regulatory bodies they work with
• Produce the year-end statutory accounts in accordance with the appropriate accounting standards (currently charity SORP).
