Job Description

Policy and Public Affairs Advisor

Not for Profit and Charities

Role:

  • Organise and attend political events for advocacy purposes
  • Attend and represent the Organisation at stakeholder group meetings and relevant Select Committees etc; write up meeting notes and follow up on any action points
  • Proactively monitor and provide intelligence on relevant upcoming legislation, debates, PQs etc and other political developments from across the UK
  • Lead in developing the Organisation's policy positions on issues surrounding the sector in collaboration with Deputy CEO and Policy and Public Affairs Manager
  • Writing and developing policy responses to relevant opportunities such as inquiries in both houses of Parliament, Government consultations and public bill committees
  • Identify MPs, Special Advisors and civil servants relevant to the Organisation's policy aims and set-up meetings to discuss and further the aims of the Organisation
  • Lead in writing pieces on policy positions for communication to members and wider audiences in consultation with the Communications team
  • Develop policy campaign plans that incorporate elements of advocacy and lobbying as well as communication to audiences beyond Westminster
