Job Description

In the role of General Manager you will be responsible for the process and people management within a busy Distribution site.

  • Day to day operations of a fast paced and semi-automated warehouse
  • Management of in-house warehouse operations and outsourced transportation teams as well as some other specialist areas of the site.
  • Driving operational excellence at the DC, keeping customers and people at the centre of all business decisions.
  • You responsible for up to 80 heads on site, managed through 5 direct reports
  • Finance and HR for the site
  • Ensure the operation is running efficiently and tracking at or below an agreed budgeted cost level
  • Take the lead for all H&S matters throughout the site
  • Manage the inbound, pick and dispatch teams working across varied shift pattern
  • Ensure Inventory damage / loss is kept to a minimum at all times.
  • Be responsible for performance development, performance improvement / challenges and HR related issues up to disciplinary and dismissal.
  • Manage and lead a culture of Continuous Improvement * Undertake and recognise projects for process improvement within the Operation
  • Be responsible for creating and implementing KPIS in all areas and align the operational teams * Responsible for achieving Customer SLA's

The Successful Applicant

You will need to

  • Have previous experience in managing a large team of people
  • Demonstrate a background of success in achieving and exceeding targets whilst delivering an outstanding experience in a fast paced environment
  • Exhibit practical knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety regulations
  • Have experience of managing a budget, working to operational KPI's and financial targets
  • Be motivated and passionate
  • Have a strong work ethic and desire to work as a team
  • Demonstrate excellent communication both verbally and written and the ability to build excellent relationships with peers, team members and key stakeholders
  • Have experience working within Supply chain, logistics, FMCG, warehouse or distribution at management level, including managing fleet operations
