Job Description

Statutory reporting and requirement

  • Manage the delivery of comprehensive and timely statutory financial reporting (for both full year accounts and interim accounts) to PRA and to Companies House (including maintenance of the statutory books) and the stock market/investors.
  • Develop and implement all necessary financial policies and control procedures to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Act as the main point of contact with the external auditors and provide them with all required information.
  • Attend A&CCo to present the annual accounts and judgemental areas including EIR (including behavioural life analysis), Deferred tax, Hedge accounting, impairment provisions
  • Own the IFRS9 impairment model and provide regular impairment updates to Credit Committee, EXCO and A&CCo
  • Provide insights to EXCO and the Board on the financial performance of the Bank including variance analysis and commentaries
  • Identify financial and process risks and create necessary controls to mitigate risks in line with the Banks RCSA process
  • Manage the relationship with the Bank's tax advisors ensuring tax returns are completed on time and accurately and in line with the Bank's tax policy



Regulatory:

  • Manage comprehensive and timely reporting of financial data to external stakeholders including PRA / FCA and maintenance of historic reporting.
    • Develop, manage and implement all necessary financial policies and control procedures (in conjunction with the Head of Regulatory Reporting) to ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.
    • Support new product innovation through supporting the smooth launch and reporting of new product performance
    • Monitor changes to accounting standards and new regulatory reporting requirements.
    • Prepare the Pillar 3 disclosures (in conjunction with the Regulatory reporting team)
    • Ensure compliance at all times with the Bank's listing requirements associated with financial disclosures and advise EXCO where necessary.



Risk Management/Controls

  • Develop and implement all necessary financial policies and control procedures to ensure the provision of an effective financial management service.
  • Maintain the wider controls framework, including the Fixed Asset Register.
  • Provide clear and transparent leadership to direct report(s), ensuring a commitment to the Bank's values.
  • Inspire, motivate, and support direct report(s) so they are thinking and acting at their best, delivering high quality work, working as an effective team, and meeting organisational and individual objectives.
  • Support the professional development of direct report(s) to continuously develop skills and expertise and support career development objectives.
  • In addition, support and if required, cover the responsibilities of the Director of Finance within the CFO Team.

The Successful Applicant

Qualification, skills and experience:

  • Educated to degree standard and possessing recognised professional accountancy or finance qualification. At least five years' experience at senior management level preferably within financial services
  • Previous IFRS accounting experience is essential
  • Demonstrable strength in understanding of accounting standards and disclosures in the annual accounts
  • Experience of producing and presenting reports to A&Cco
  • Ability to produce management information for the Bank's EXCo and Board
  • Strong skills in developing or enhancing financial reports.
  • Ability to review and constantly improve the systems requirements for Finance and make recommendations as required.
  • Ability to work independently on day to day tasks and assigned initiatives
  • Experience working across functions and in multi-disciplinary teams to achieve bank wide initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skill with an ability to clearly articulate complex issues in a simple and coherent manner
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a self-directed and fast paced environment.
