About Our Client

Our client is a leading global business who are recognised for their brands and are looking for an Employee Relations Advisor who are available to commit to a three month contract. The role will need you to be available on site for 3 days a week in Coventry and they are ideally looking for someone with a manufacturing background.

Job Description

The Employee Relations Advisor will be responsible for the following:

  • Act as the process expert, providing very clear and specific direction to managers to ensure they are able to execute independently and do not "shop" for an alternative answer.
  • Build capability of new/first time managers ensuring they are capable to deliver the process and confident in their own ability.
  • Build capability of experienced managers through frequent one to one coaching supported by training/education workshops to reduce the reliance on ER Advisors.
  • Establish Service Level Agreements with key stakeholders and measure performance against the SLAs.
  • Deliver specific ER projects/assignments, such as development of handbooks, policies and procedures.
  • Share best practices and case learning's with other ER Advisors to ensure consistency across the organisation.
  • Work effectively with the Occupational Health Team to ensure service is effective and meets case requirements.
  • Engage external partners when necessary, such as Access to Work, ACAS and other organisations to set up and provide workplace assistance.
  • Advise on collective consultation requirements including partnering with HRM to prepare pay consultation.
  • Engage Legal Counsel where required to mitigate risk.
  • Build effective working relationships with the Trade Unions across sites.
  • Be an active member of the on site weekly improvement process, representing the HR KPI's and support to drive the metrics to standard or improved.
  • Partner with HRBP/Local HR to identify patterns/trends of ER that may suggest underlying issues.



The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will need the following skills:

  • A strong working knowledge of employment policies and employment legislation and the ability to practically implement that knowledge within the business (through proven experience or CIPD qualified).
  • Ability to take ownership of complex ER issues with limited management input across two locations.
  • Strong coaching/counselling skills.
  • Able to balance legal risk with business benefit to ensure that the best outcome is reached on employment related issues.
  • Personal values consistent with the business values to ensure that Code of Conduct is upheld in every decision taken.
  • Able to leverage personal influence with associates and managers to promote direct employment relationships, creating positive visual presence of HR at all levels on site including shop floor.
  • Collaboration skills to build effective relationships with all client groups.
  • Flexibility to support three sites with a 24/7 operation.
