Job Description

Reporting into the Corporate Services Director, the Head of People & Development, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of the organisation by developing a best-in-class HR team and fostering a culture of collaboration, customer-centricity, and accountability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders at ELT and SLT
  • Develop a strong People team culture
  • Lead and develop a high performing team, which models HR excellence, and ensuring that the People team remains commercial and customer-centric in its methodology and a strong partner to the executive and management team
  • Ensure the organisation has a solid suite of people data and analytics so that leaders are informed about current trends, and that they can make informed decisions on change and strategy - this will include a gap analysis on the current HRIS and potential considerations of whether there would be a need to procure and implement a new system that is fit for purpose
  • Have a focus on organisational learning & development in the short to medium term, with a focus on organisational development longer-term
  • Continue to build a strong DE&I (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) strategy that is fit for a short, medium and long term and is tailored to a STEM organisation - and considers all aspects of talent attraction, management and development

You'll be based in Stockport, with a hybrid way of working - 3 days in the office, 2 from home.

The Successful Applicant

To be considered for this Head of People & Development role, you will have proven experience within a strategic capacity, which has supported businesses / organisations to achieve their strategic goals.

You'll have a toolkit in all thing's talent management & development, organisational design & development, employee relations and engagement - with an ability for partnering, coaching and influencing at all levels of the organisation.

A keen understanding of People technology is also important - as our customer is an organisation that makes data & insight led decisions, so being able to decipher and use data to design and shape strategy and projects is key.

We're seeking a leader who drives an agenda in the wider organisation, but equally within their own team, so someone with the passion for coaching, developing and leading a team from the front is 'what good looks like'.

What's on Offer

This role offers a salary of £70,000 to £75,000 per annum, plus a suite of benefits - which includes a USS pension scheme
