With over 40 years in the menswear industry, they are considered somewhat of a stalwarts in menswear fashion.Job DescriptionProviding leadership to the Menswear Merchandising team and a key leader and stakeholder for the wider Merchandising department. The aim is to maximise sales, sell-through, and gross margin through strategic analysis, planning, and stock management.Manage a team of experienced Merchandisers across various categoriesAccountable for the stock allocation and performance of formal, casual, accessories, and outerwear categoriesProvide detailed analysis and trade reports to the Directors on a regular basisOrganise and manage the stock and sell-through across all regionsFully accountable for the entire stock management systemResponsible for producing all in-season reports, forecasting, and buying plansWork with the Menswear team on roll up of topline and seasonal planning forecasts, driving and supporting merchandising teams to deliver budgets.Review with the team in season stock opportunities and risks in line with forecasts to maximise sales and reduce stocks i.e., OTB management, recodes, cancellations, SOR and markdowns. Collaborating with other departments for efficient WSSI management.Pro-actively manage departments in line with trade activity to minimise risks and maximise opportunities for monthly and seasonal KPI'sManage and develop intake flow processes to hit monthly forecasts, drive sales and minimise risks.Measure and monitor the performance of the business on a weekly basisBe completely in charge of the allocation & distribution of stockPartner with the Retail teams to ensure launches, sales, etc. are actioned seamlesslyPartner with the senior team to create and implement clear procedures and guidelinesReview merchandisers suggested opportunities and risks during seasonal buying periods, ensuring OTB, and strategies are being followed and flagging re-considerations.Propose and implement carefully researched promotional strategies to improve sales performance and achieve set revenue targets.Review seasonal markdown planning documents and present total department proposals versus Financial targets to Directors.Sign off team proposals of changes to planning packs for driving strategic questions for Buying in order to improve sales, terms, sell-through, profit, deliveries, and stock optimisation.The Successful ApplicantMust be in a key role in the Commercial Leadership team, confidently representing the Merchandising Team at all levelsMust have been in a leadership role within a trading or commercial functionPrior experience in the day-to-day management of a Merchandising team consisting of at least 10-12 direct reportsExtensive relevant experience in fashion retail merchandising preferably within the apparel environment.Must have experience in shipping from the Far-east and a thorough understanding of distribution channelsExcellent and proven planning and analytical skills, with the ability to present, articulate, and reason confidently with others.Proven track record of creating a positive impact on business through merchandising strategy.Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and data analysis toolsConfidence in suggesting innovative and calculated risks, judgement, and decision-making skills.Strong commercial awareness and understanding of the menswear marketExperience in effective team management and development; a role model working to inspire those around you.Passionate about retail or fashion, and possess a strong market and brand awarenessDiscreet, professional, and well-spoken, with excellent communication skillsExceptionally organised, methodical, and efficient.Ability to meet stringent deadlines and work at a fast pace decisively managing priorities.Great decision-making: Good judgement and decision-making skills, confident in using data to inform decision-making and suggesting calculated risksDetails Matter: Exceptionally organised, methodical and efficient.
