This pivotal role offers an excellent opportunity to lead their finance function and play an active part in shaping the strategic direction of their thriving organisation.Job DescriptionStrategic:Provide strategic financial advice to the Chief Operations Officer (COO), Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Trust Board, and senior managers.Collaborate with key stakeholders to prepare annual financial forecasts, corporate strategies, and plans.Develop and implement strategies to maximise the Trust's financial resources.Foster strong working relationships with key partners.Operational:Lead the strategic planning process, including annual budgets, forecasts, and funding requirements.Develop and maintain financial systems to ensure accurate cash forecasts and proactive cash management.Oversee income collection procedures and minimise debt issues.Prepare annual Trust budgets in alignment with strategic objectives.Monitor income and expenditure budgets and provide early warning of potential difficulties.Provide accurate and timely financial information for effective budgetary control and decision-making.Manage and improve procurement processes and insurance arrangements.Ensure robust financial structures and controls are in place to support sound financial management.Compliance and Governance:Maintain the Trust's accounts in accordance with regulatory standards and financial procedures.Advise on financial policies and procedures.Manage relationships with auditors and regulatory bodies.Ensure probity and legislative compliance of all financial transactions.Staff Management and Development:Lead, manage, and develop staff within the finance function within St. Albans and surrounding herts/beds locationsPromote a strong customer service ethos and uphold high professional standards.Foster collaboration with other Trust functions.The Successful ApplicantThis Head of Finance Role is looking for a Qualified accountant (CIMA, ICAEW, ACCA, CIPFA) with the below expereince and qualitiesExperience* To be able to demonstrate a track record of successful financial leadership and building effective teams* Will have financial reporting and management skills and experience of working with stakeholders to develop strong financial understanding and empathy across an organisation* To have high ethical standards and influencing skills with the ability to engage effectively with all staff across the Trust and with the governing body* To be able to show evidence of entrepreneurialism and innovation with an ability to identify commercial opportunities to maximise income and minimise costs.* To have excellent analytical skills and sound judgement* To have excellent communication and presentational skills* To have experience of financial information systems and be computer literate* To have a good knowledge of the funding, regulatory and legislative environment of academies.* Public sector/ education sector expereince/knowledge ideally Personal Qualities* Excellent interpersonal skills* Excellent communication and presentational skills* Excellent time keeping and attendance* Methodical and organised approach to work* Good sense of humour* Positive/can do approachInterview Special Conditions* Willingness to undertake a Disclosure & Barring Service checkWhat's on OfferCareer growthGreat team dynamicadditional benefitsContactHarley HopkinsQuote job refJN-092023-6190400Phone number+44 2078 312000Job summaryJob functionAccountingSubsectorFinance ManagerSectorPublic SectorLocationSt AlbansContract typePermanentConsultant nameHarley HopkinsConsultant phone+44 2078 312000Job referenceJN-092023-6190400
