Job Description

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Develops, implements, and tracks the effectiveness of food safety & quality programs including standards, procedures and tools to assure that food safety and hygiene requirements are met for store operations
  • Delivers effective communications to provide partners at all levels with appropriate awareness and knowledge of food safety standards, requirements, program updates and process changes
  • Analyses food safety & quality metrics, audit data, customer and regulator feedback. Highlights trends and potential opportunities for the team
  • Coaches and supports the operational teams on food safety related queries and issues for all relevant projects
  • Manages and ensures that all food safety related complaints are fully investigated, tracked and resolved on a timely basis
  • Develops effective relationships with enforcement officers
  • Develops and delivers training programmes for retail stores and to other departments as necessary
  • Deliver against assigned business change projects. This will involve the development and publication of food safety standards and new retail processes to support brand innovation
  • Actively promotes and drives the overall aim of developing and embedding an excellent food safety & quality culture throughout the business
  • Takes ownership for continued professional development to ensure sufficient knowledge, skills and expertise to carry out all relevant duties

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate will have a background in:

  • Educated to a degree/diploma level in food safety from a recognised qualification route (i.e. Royal Institute of Public Health, CIEH)
  • Experience within a food auditing and/or enforcement role
  • Minimum HACCP Level 3 qualification
  • Ability to balance needs of the business against legal requirements and/or guidelines
  • Consultative and able to influence various cross functional teams
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, changing priorities and to prioritise effectively
  • Ability to use initiative, anticipating required support and taking (or proposing) appropriate action
  • Ability to assimilate new information quickly and react positively to new and challenging opportunities
  • Strong team player, able to work on own and use initiative to find solutions.
  • Highly proactive and process-driven
  • Ability to analyse information in a structured manner and prepare coherent communication, both internally and externally
  • High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills with ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel
