As the HSE Manager you will be instrumental in ensuring their standards continue to reflect the industries to which they supply.

Job Description

As the HSE Manager you will be working closely with the senior leadership team in order to ensure that they drive Health, Safety & Environmental & compliance improvements. You will be ensuring the consistency of their processes & champion Health & Safety awareness.Key Responsibilities:

  • To manage all aspects of the HSE & Compliance department, including the team
  • Provide guidance and advice to the senior management team to ensure that the organisation complies with statutory obligations and best practice.
  • Set the strategic framework for the management of Health, Safety & Environmental standards, engaging stakeholders across the region to ensure that these standards are understood and embedded.
  • Keep up to date with new HSE legislation and best practice developments that affect the organisation, ensuring that when necessary, policies, procedures and processes are appropriately updated.
  • To promote the use of the system and develop the Health & Safety culture as in conjunction with the senior management team.
  • To ensure accreditation to a suitable standard is maintained.
  • To promote the use of the system and the philosophy of a quality organisation.
  • Conduct safety audits both internal and external.
  • Manage Safety Council and Safety Committee meetings.
  • To work with the operational team in the maintenance of an environmental standard; establishment, implementation and maintenance of ISO14001 alongside other management systems.
  • To promote the use of the management systems.
  • To assist with the management of hazardous waste on/off site.
  • Provide coaching, specialist advice and practical support on all HSE matters to the site.
  • Manage safety related training programmes, ensure the accurate recording of safety related training.
  • Assist in the identification of HSE training needs for employees across the organisation. Develop and deliver this training as required.
  • Work in conjunction with the HSE Manager at the neighbouring site and support when necessary.

The Successful Applicant

HSE Manager with manufacturing experience (ideally FMCG but other sectors will be considered). The successful candidate will also have the following:

  • NEBOSH Certificate
  • An understanding of & interest in improving health, safety & environmental procedure
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001
  • Internal audit capability
  • Ability to influence and lead management and employees at all levels within the organisation
  • The ability to communicate across all levels of the organisation

Circa £50,000 - £60,000 depending on experience
