About Our Client

My client are a market leading, globally recognised retail business who have a new requirement for a large Site General Manager. You will be tasked with developing the operation, teams and site performance within a structure that you will be tasked with creating.

Job Description

As the Site General Manager you will be responsible for day to day operations of a 24/7, e-commerce / fulfilment site. You will manage warehouse and transportation teams as well as some other specialist areas of the site. You will drive operational excellence at the DC, keeping customers and people at the centre of all business decisions. Your responsibilities will be split across the following core areas and you will need to be able to demonstrate a track record within each:

  • Oversee the day to day Warehouse operations within a 500,000sqft Site
  • Be responsible for up to 200 heads on site, managed through 6 direct reports
  • Work with key stakeholders both internally and externally including; Finance and HR
  • Ensure the operation is running efficiently and tracking at or below an agreed budgeted cost level.
  • Take the lead for all H&S matters throughout the site.
  • Manage the inbound, pick and dispatch teams working across varied shift patterns
  • Ensure Inventory damage / loss is kept to a minimum at all times.
  • Be responsible for performance development, performance improvement / challenges and HR related issues up to disciplinary and dismissal.
  • Manage and lead a culture of Continuous Improvement
  • Undertake and recognise projects for process improvement within the Operation
  • Be responsible for creating and implementing KPIS in all areas and align the operational teams
  • Responsible for achieving Customer SLA's

The Successful Applicant

The Successful Site General Manager will have the following experiences;

  • A Logistics Distribution and Supply Chain background with exposure 3PL, FMCG, E-commerce.
  • A minimum of 5+ years Logistics management experience.
  • Proven track record in identifying change and shaping operations within an established long serving team
  • Able to work with an established team and have the desire to create change initiatives to create a great culture
  • Have managed in excess of 150+
  • Managed budgets in excess of £10m
  • Experience of Customer Management delivering on KPI, Financial and Performances
  • Have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Managed in House Transport or 3PL
  • Be results driven and commercially minded.
  • Be within a realistic commute to Doncaster

This candidate may have worked within a; Warehouse Manager, Logistics Manager, Operations Improvement Manager, Operations Manager, Site Manager or General Manager role previously.
