The UK head office is based in Sheffield and is easily accessible being just off the M1.Job DescriptionMain activities/responsibilities:Responsible for Accounting Tax and Treasury functions in UKThe main accounting duties include coordinating the month end closing, annual statutory accounts, general ledger reconciliations and other financial accounting activities.Key person supporting the financial auditors and finalize, together with the CFO, the Financial Statements of the UK entities.Lead special projects promoted by the HQ related to the Accounting, Tax and Treasury activities in the UK.Responsible for all liquidity and cashflow reporting (forecasts short term and long term) and banking activities.Responsible for all tax reporting via the Global Tax Centre, and filing and reporting corporation tax (current and deferred), VAT and other taxes. Ability to cover for all other areas of Finance during staff absence.Planning & organising:Plan workload in advance following a monthly cycle, as per Group Goals and various projects on an ad hoc basis.The nature of work can vary each month depending on deadlines. Monthly cycles do not vary greatly, and the knowledge and experience gained from previous months / years enables effective planning.Plan most work 1 month in advance to meet departmental objectives and internal/external deadlines.Plan much of the workload up to 3 days ahead.Plan for assessment deadlines 1 week ahead.Prioritise own work as there are often conflicting priorities to deal with. Prioritise unscheduled requests for work according to actual need.Resource management responsibilities (e.g. Staff, finance, other):People management responsibility for the Accounting Tax and Treasury team in the UK.The Successful ApplicantKnowledge, skills & experience:Educated to Degree level; Qualified accountant: ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA.Background ideally within practice and industry.Approximately 3 years' experience is needed to perform the job at a competent level.Proven experience of managing people.Experience of working in a multi-site environment (desirable).Experienced in working under own initiative, demonstrating an ability to set & meet personal targets, combined with the flexibility to adjust to workload priorities to take account of new deadlines.Interpersonal and communication skills and a commitment to customer service.Awareness of wider Company issues and relevant legislation. Required to keep informed of changes in legislation and departmental policy to deliver correct advice.Ability to organise and prioritise workload, maintain confidentiality, and produce/process documents accurately.IT knowledge, including e-mail, Excel, Word, Power-point, SAP or other ERP system.Communication skills to deal effectively with third parties.Ability to handle & deal with difficult situations confidently & appropriately.A flexible, forward-thinking approach to work, along with the ability to work as part of a team.Other duties as are reasonably commensurate with the grade and level of the post.What's on OfferWhat is on offer for the successful candidateOn offer for the successful candidate is a generous salary and benefits package, including 30 days holiday (plus bank holidays).
