Job Description

"This is an exciting time to join the communications team in a highly visible role. You will be working with all parts of the business including a range of external stakeholders. We are now looking for an experienced communications professional with strong writing skills and an ability to engage at all levels, have a flexible approach and is meticulous about detail."


As the Senior Communications Officer in the Bristol Hub, you will:

  • Ensure communications are aligned to the company's key messages and strategies
  • Work closely with all functions and projects in the development of key messaging and communications plans
  • Provide specialist advice and support to the site/functional lead teams on communications and stakeholder engagement
  • Manage key stakeholder's expectations
  • Provide advice and guidance on communication issues ensuring that relevant stakeholders receive timely advice/information
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with local and regional journalists and secure positive coverage
  • Communicate and report progress on a regular basis, providing support and expertise in other areas of the business as appropriate
  • Ensure that good neighbour socio-economic applications are properly recorded and promoted
  • The post holder may be required to support the 24/7 press office rota

The Successful Applicant

The ideal Senior Communications Officer will have:

  • Business/Marketing/PR/Media qualifications - HNC/D or equivalent
  • Ideally, membership of a relevant professional body - e.g. CIPR, but this is not essential
  • Demonstrated experience of working within a communications/public relations/media/marketing environment
  • Demonstrated experience of building relationships with a broad range of Stakeholders and Customers
  • Experience of designing and delivering public speaking
  • Experience of working with a range of multimedia tools
  • Ideally, awareness or experience in the environmental, energy or nuclear sector
  • Project Management experience - delivery of communications tools
  • Understanding of Change models and how to support this via communications
