Job Description

Senior Business Analyst will;

  • Become familiar with regulatory requirements and School policies and procedures relevant to the programme/project.
  • Gather business requirements relating to the programme/project.
  • Construct viable options to address business issues.
  • Lead on third party vendor procurement, facilitating proof of concept and product/service evaluation where necessary.
  • Be ready to challenge the status quo in current business processes related to the programme and proactively identify and solve problems, showing a willingness to understand issues beyond the boundaries of the programme where necessary.
  • Identify areas where policies and procedures and other supporting artefacts
  • Analyse data flows and design end-to-end solutions which ensure data integrity.
  • Analyse the requirements and design lean user-centric business solutions for the programme/project.
  • Take ownership of key deliverables and develop viable solutions with 'to be' processes, to resolve business issues.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and product development roadmaps related to the programme/project, and be able to apply knowledge of developments in the IT sector to the benefit of the School.
  • Contribute to the testing of the solutions as required.
  • Contribute to the training requirements arising from the solutions as required.
  • Provide business analysis support throughout the programme/project lifecycle.
  • Work closely with programme and project managers and team members to contribute towards clarity and scope of deliverables for the programme/project.
  • Work closely with the SME's and Stakeholders monitoring and assessing change programme status and requirements.
  • Be the business analysis expert for the programme, demonstrating 'best practice' in accordance with BIU standards, and providing guidance and relevant constructive feedback to other members of the programme.
  • Make impactful business decisions, in consultation with key stakeholders.
  • Organise, facilitate and lead workshops to gather business requirements, analyze options and develop process models that define operational 'To Be' processes for the programme/project.
  • Lead in testing the solutions, including leading in User Acceptance Testing (UAT), as required.
  • Lead in training provision arising from implementing solutions for the programme, as required
  • Communicate effectively with staff at all levels in the BIU and across the rest of the School to ensure high quality services within the programme/project are delivered.
  • Facilitate and lead workshops
  • Liaise with Business Analysis Community of Practice groups and individuals both within and outside the School, creating networks to share good practice and knowledge.
  • Contribute to the BIU methodology training in Business Analysis practices such as Process design, and deliver elements of the training as required.
  • Attend relevant conferences/seminars/webinars in latest IT developments

The Successful Applicant

Senior Business Analyst will have ;

  • Recognised BA qualification, such as IIBA or BCS BA certification (ıdeally)
  • Significant experience in authoring high quality documentation for business analysis activities, including business requirements, options analysis, process design, user stories, test scripts and acceptance criteria
  • Confident ability to use MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint and flowcharting software such as Visio.
  • Experience of third-party vendor procurement and facilitating proof of concept and product/service evaluation.
  • Understanding of Identity Management and knowledge of one or more access management systems.
  • Experience in Lean/Systems Thinking or similar process-based change experience.



Experience of working closely with programme and project managers, team members and stakeholders to clarify scope and deliverables for programmes/projects.

Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to lead, manage, coach and/or mentor staff as required.

Encourage and actively promote team values, application of project methodologies and acceptance of agreed standards

Able to gather and interpret user requirements and produce viable user-centric solutions in accordance with regulatory requirements and School policies and procedures.

A readiness to challenge the status quo and proactively identify and solve problems, including a willingness to understand issues beyond the boundaries of the project.

Able to work independently. Self-confident and self-motivated. Able to organise, prioritise and plan own work and delegate tasks to others

Advanced organisational skills including the ability to organise, facilitate and lead workshops to gather business requirements, analyse options and develop process models.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write succinct reports and to communicate complex information to non-technical audiences at all levels of the organisation.

Ability to pass on knowledge to others, both in one-to-one and formal training environments.
