Job Description

Project Manager -Digital Education Futures will;

  • Support the School in the successful delivery of business change projects.
  • Assist the Project Executive to establish a cross-functional project team, to identify resource requirements and to document key accountabilities in line with the overall goals, objectives and timelines for the delivery of change.
  • In consultation with each project team member define the scope and deliverables and risks, issues and dependencies.
  • Develop integrated project plans that cover the full project lifecycle, reflecting all key deliverables and both internal and external project dependencies in line with the overall goals, objectives and timelines for the project.
  • Consult with key stakeholders (including users and system suppliers) to ensure the project plan reflects an integrated approach to change design and implementation.
  • Manage stakeholder engagement throughout, ensuring required levels of involvement in and consultation on change design and implementation, including effective communications and management of expectations.
  • Work with the project team to develop key project deliverables, including project setup, solution design documents, business cases, organisational change and implementation plans.
  • Work in partnership with the Business Change Manager to ensure project outputs enable the realisation of change and deliver associated benefits.
  • Service the Project Board, including an agreed terms of reference and developing project team level reporting processes that enable effective identification, reporting and escalation of project level issues and risks.
  • Proactively facilitate the resolution of project level issues and risks, escalating in a timely fashion, seeking an agreed resolution and making recommendations as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the development and application of project management and design integration methods and tools across the School, delivering project management training to project team members.
  • Liaise with groups and individuals both within and outside the School, creating networks to share good practise and knowledge.

The Successful Applicant

Project Manager -Digital Education Futures will have;

  • Sufficient knowledge, experience and understanding of information systems and technology to be able to manage change projects which will be enabled by these capabilities.
  • Confident ability to use MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications.
  • Use of project planning tools and team collaboration tools such as Microsoft Project, Visio, MS Teams and SharePoint.
  • Formal project or programme management qualifications, such as MSP or PRINCE 2, with experience in the application of stage gate methodologies.
  • Experience of providing leadership and direction to project teams, demonstrating an ability to motivate with a clear vision of what is to be achieved.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to mentor, coach and appraise performance of assigned reports.
  • Encourage and actively promote team values, application of project methodologies and acceptance of agreed standards.
  • A readiness to challenge the status quo and proactively identify and solve problems, including a willingness to understand issues beyond the boundaries of the project
  • Ability to lead, work with and support people in a complex change environment, building productive and lasting internal and external working relationships and networks
  • Significant experience in Project Management, leading and directing productive, cross functional teams and managing stakeholders at senior management level.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work, with the ability to deal with high degrees of complexity, ambiguity and changes of business focus.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, including the ability to write complex project documentation such as project briefs, financial reports, business cases and stage gate reports.
