About Our Client

Global business based in Yorkshire looking for a tax specialist to join their team. This is a remote role, which focuses predominantly on VAT (roughly 2/3) with the remainder on direct taxes (e.g. corporate and international tax work, PSA, R&D, transfer pricing).

Given the nature of the role, candidates with strong indirect tax and international tax compliance experience would be especially suited to the role. There will also be support and development on offer to upskill in new areas, should the candidate not be an expert in all taxes mentioned on the job description.

Job Description

The successful Remote Tax Manager (VAT focus) will be responsible for:

  • Responsibility for tax compliance for the Group, including US tax reporting for the US parent company.
  • Monitoring overseas sales tax thresholds and filing the necessary returns.
  • Monitoring and maintaining of deadlines for tax returns and tax payments worldwide
  • Maintaining ongoing compliance with internal risk management policies and identify process improvements.
  • Assisting in the Group's active M&A programme.
  • Liaising with HR on employee benefits, including reviewing PSAs.
  • Reviewing tax returns prepared in and out of house.
  • Preparing QIP calculations.
  • Reviewing overseas accounts prepared by overseas team members.
  • Leading projects with advisors. Key projects will include: International taxation of electronic products, R&D reclaim, implementing systems to identify reclaims going forwards, and managing the relationship with our external tax advisors.



The Successful Applicant

The ideal Remote Tax Manager (VAT focus) will have/be:

  • Strong VAT compliance experience
  • Oversees VAT knowledge
  • Direct tax knowledge would also be desirable
  • Equivalent of ACA or CTA qualified.
  • Post qualification tax experience of working with group companies with an international reach
  • Preference will be given to a candidate with a background in international tax or VAT.
  • Up-to-date technical knowledge of UK corporate tax and awareness of UK VAT rules.
  • Knowledge of international tax environment, especially US rules.
  • Ability to keep track of legislation changes and requirements.
  • Curious & proactive ability to research new and unknown technical areas. Draw conclusions and recommendations from the research.
  • Confident in managing external advisors.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • A "hands on" individual who enjoys working at a variety of levels.
  • Excellent organisation and planning skills, both in day to day tasks and project planning
  • Ability to support and develop other team members in the finance team.
  • Personable and professional attitude.
  • Rigorous attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage and work within tight deadlines.
