Job Description

  • Responsible for the Group Balance Sheet consolidation and Group Cash flow
  • Responsible for the monthly subsidiary close process.
  • Responsible for the integrity of the general ledger by way of effective and appropriate reconciliation procedures and documentation
  • Working in conjunction with the Group Financial Planning & Analysis Manager to prepare a quarterly board reporting pack and monthly management executive pack, including commentary on performance and KPIs for senior management review.
  • Providing in-house technical expertise via IFRS / US GAAP and local GAAP accounting support to the wider team, including proactively managing the effects of upcoming GAAP changes or new initiatives on Group and Subsidiary results
  • Liaison with Product Management and Sales functions to create and enforce commercial contracts with a view to ensuring optimal revenue recognition in line with the requirements of the company, including preparation of revenue recognition memoranda for customer contracts under either ASC 606 / IFRS 15 and working with Finance Business Partners and Accounts Receivable team to ensure accurate recognition outcome in the underlying ERP.
  • Leading the annual Group audit process including dealing with external auditors, agreeing timetables and ensuring timely delivery of audit information and audit closure
  • Providing oversight of Subsidiary audits, working in co-ordination with Accountants to align to the Group audit cycle and produce associated testing efficiency's, whilst ensuring filing deadlines are met
  • Preparation of annual Group financial statements reporting under IFRS / US GAAP
  • Ensuring that the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK and US taxes, and experience in tax planning.
  • In conjunction with external advisors, lead the preparation and filing of UK Group tax returns and associated payments.
  • In conjunction with external advisors, lead the preparation and filing of US Group quarterly and annual state and federal tax returns and associated payments (or other local equivalents)
  • In conjunction with Accountants and external advisors oversee the preparation and filing of Subsidiary corporation tax, incentive schemes (R&D, Capital Allowances) and indirect tax (VAT, SUT) return requirements.
  • Help implement new Group transfer pricing policy to ensure overall tax burden of the Group is optimised within agreed CT framework.
  • Assist the Group Finance Director in performing financial due diligence on new investments and M&A targets.
  • Delivering process improvements across the accounting team using AI and IT systems
  • Provision of periodic training sessions to the wider finance team on relevant, technical accounting subject matters
  • Ad hoc projects and other tasks as advised by the Group Finance Director

The Successful Applicant

  • Degree educated with a minimum upper second-class degree or international equivalent.
  • Qualified ACA / ACCA or equivalent ideally with a minimum of 5 years post qualified experience
  • Experience working with either a 'Big 4' accounting firm or in a similar corporate role with exposure to US GAAP
  • Understanding of the requirements for a robust accounting control environment
  • Strong technical accounting skills including knowledge of consolidations and financial statement preparation.
  • Commercially astute, articulate, technically strong and influential leader with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels.
  • Exceptional communication skills (written and oral), across the organisation
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks, coordinating with various stakeholders.
  • Prior experience in IFRS/US GAAP
  • In-depth knowledge of UK and US taxes, and experience in tax planning.
  • Experience and insight around accounting and reporting systems (e.g. MS Dynamics).
  • Extensive experience in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Excellent knowledge of financial regulations, accounting standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial analysis, modelling, and reporting tools.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to think analytically and provide valuable insights to support decision-making.
