Job Description

As a successful Laboratory Operations Manager you will be expected to:

  • Manage and coordinate all laboratory operations, including sample processing, data analysis, and quality control procedures.
  • Oversee the allocation of resources, ensuring optimal utilization of equipment, supplies, and personnel.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain high-quality standards and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Foster a culture of safety, ensuring adherence to health and safety protocols and promoting a safe working environment.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of scientists, technicians, and support staff, providing guidance and support in their professional growth.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement new laboratory processes and workflows.
  • Maintain accurate records, document procedures, and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay abreast of advancements in laboratory technologies and techniques, recommending and implementing improvements where appropriate.

The Successful Applicant

To be a succesful Laboratory Operations Manager, you will have / be:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in laboratory management or operations within a research or diagnostic environment.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory processes, equipment, and regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing laboratory SOPs and quality control measures.
  • Familiarity with relevant health and safety regulations and protocols.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in project management (Lean and CI) and resource allocation is desirable.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
