Job Description

Management and Performance Measurement Accountant

Banking & Financial ServicesPerformance measurement:

  • Analyse financial performance from different management views and interpret and provide business reasons for the movements
  • Responsibility for production of complete, accurate, insightful and timely reports at an individual BU and consolidated London Branch level
  • Consolidate information into the required reporting format / structure
  • Provide commentary on key business drivers, as well as capital utilization, in relation to the bank's risk return framework
  • Engage with the business to understand drivers, performance and information required to support their BU
  • Be alert for ways to enhance and improve processes around reporting
  • Critically analyse and comment on costs, drawing out key insights on ratios, suppliers, variances and opportunities supported by the Cost Accountant
  • Develop and report on operational metrics for individual BUs that highlight opportunities and gaps
  • Develop dashboard reporting that is meaningful and easily replicable, for consumption by senior management

Budgeting and forecasting:

  • Coordinate and consolidate the annual budgeting process, and the monthly forecast process
  • Evaluate business performance between actuals, forecast and budgets from a revenue, cost and capital utilization perspective
  • Explain deviations from forecast and budgets, all once-offs (unexpected income) and losses
  • Projects, systems and other change initiatives
  • Ad hoc projects and requests from both the Group as well as London Branch

Projects, systems and other change initiatives:

  • Stakeholder relationship management and business partnership, producing solutions with buy-in from relevant stakeholders
  • Quick quality responses to inform and satisfy stakeholders' needs and analysis requirements
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships with group and all businesses
  • Teamwork, self-management and alignment with group values
  • Provide support to Business Partner Markets, and the ability to deputize where necessary
  • Lead by example, displaying energy, integrity and business acumen

The Successful Applicant

Management and Performance Measurement Accountant

City of London

Banking & Financial Services

  • CIMA or equivalent qualification in a finance role in a regulated CIB environment, with evidence of current and relevant CPD
  • Excellent understanding of CIB business environment and products
  • Conceptual / big picture thinking
  • Proven track record in delivery of valuable insight that drives business growth
  • Ability to disseminate large volumes of complex data to extract valuable business insights
  • Systems: Microsoft Office, Power BI (or equivalent) - 100% need to have strong modelling skill set
