They are undergoing a significant phase of transformation, and are now looking to hire an expert to lead the Technology & Digital team to open up new commercial opportunities.

Due to being a regulated environment, our client is ideally looking for someone who can navigate this and work closely with internal stakeholders and vendor partners to manage risk, security and compliance.

IT Architecture is high on the agenda, as well as a comprehensive knowledge of security, development & agile, IT infrastructure & operations and vendor management. We are looking for a solid all-rounder who can take the organisation on a journey to 'what good looks like'.

Job Description

A leading organisation in the Professional Services sector, dedicated to delivering exceptional value to their clients. Our client is seeking an experienced and visionary IT Director to lead their IT department and drive technological innovation aligned with key business objectives.

As the IT Director, you will be responsible for spearheading the IT strategy, aligning it with the overall business purpose, vision, client proposition, strategy, and business plan set by the senior management team.

Your role will encompass the following key responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership: Develop and agree upon an IT approach that aligns with the company's strategic vision. Contribute to the research and development of new technologies and processes to support business objectives.

Communication & Influencing: You will be able to articulate the benefits of new technology solutions, keep vendor partners accountable, and engage effectively with business stakeholders.

Technology Transformation: Identify new area's for innovation, upgrade and or/replacement - e.g billing platform, GL, HR Systems, Data insights.

Team Management: Lead and manage the IT team, ensuring they are motivated, skilled, and capable. This includes recruitment, appraisal, training, and development of staff.

Infrastructure and Security: Oversee the delivery of IT infrastructure, telecommunications, and application services while ensuring the risk and security of the technology infrastructure comply with standards such as ISO 27001.

Service Excellence: Develop and deliver IT services in line with agreed service levels and KPIs, applying IT best practices, including change, problem, and incident management using ITIL as the service management framework.

Standards and Policies: Set direction and introduce standards, methodologies, and tools to maintain consistency within IT teams. Develop and maintain IT policies and procedures.

Supplier Management: Manage key suppliers, ensuring their strategies, contractual terms, service delivery, and account management meet the company's requirements.

Financial Accountability: Take ownership of budget management, including cost centers, opex, and capex. Develop and own business cases for IT changes, ensuring sustainability factors are considered in IT solutions.

Project Leadership: Act as the IT workstream lead on various projects, improving interfaces between IT and other areas of the business.

Culture and Values: Demonstrate and promote our corporate values and behaviours, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.

The Successful Applicant

We need someone who can be strategic, yet able to be 'hands on' in the sense that you can challenge and advise technical team members in a positive way. The successful candidate will be able to set standard and hold individuals accountable, and above all else be an approachable leader who can coach, and develop staff.

We are also looking for someone who can effectively engage with business stakeholders

  • Significant experience in leading teams across software development, infrastructure, applications, and security.
  • Experience in the Professional Services sector.
  • Experience with Digital technologies
  • Experience with Architecture & IT Strategy and Planning
  • Experience with Office 365 & Microsoft Stack, Azure DevOps
  • Experience with case management systems - highly desirable
  • Strong impact and influencing skills across multiple stakeholders, including Operational, Technical experts, MI/BI, and Finance.
  • Excellent working knowledge of current networking/communications technologies.
  • Proven, successful experience of implementing and delivering Agile software development at an organisation-wide level.
  • Experience in network security, cyber security and ISO27001.
  • Experience of applying ITIL frameworks.
  • Experience in developing service catalogues and associated KPIs and SLAs.
  • Cost center and opex & capex budget management.
  • Third-party supplier management.



Due to the anticipated volume of responses. We can only consider candidates who match the following criteria:

  • Location - you must be within a sensible commuting distance of Leeds/Manchester.
  • Salary - you must be within the budget limitations described in this advertisement
  • Industry sector - we need Professional services or similar.
  • Experience - we need meaningful experience in a #1 role - CIO, IT Director level.
  • Team management - the team is currently 15 individuals. We need someone who has managed similar sized teams.

What's on Offer

  • Salary on offer, £110-£120,000 basic + bonus (15%)
  • Hybrid working, regular travel to Leeds and Manchester will be required. Weekly.
