About Our Client

My client is a leading business with logistics distribution and supply chain, with a depot in Manchester. Due to their growth they are looking for an experienced Health and Safety Manager to join their team.

Job Description

Health and Safety Manager is responsible for:

* Advise management on Health & Safety legislation, safe methods of working, prevention of hazards to health, and the suitability of plant, protective equipment, and control measures.

* Understand and promote the use of Group H&S Policies and Procedures.

* Maintain the Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) plan and support the delivery of all associated actions.

* Arrange H&S courses, inductions, and meetings, producing materials and agendas as required.

* Facilitate the reporting and investigation of all H&S incidents, ensuring that root cause identification and recommendations are delivered to prevent recurrence and improve controls.

* Coach and mentor managers to improve their investigation skills and ensure that lessons learned are shared across sections/departments.

* Provide statistical summaries of incidents to management and draw attention to significant trends and occurrences.

* Facilitate the completion of risk assessments, SOP's, and audits.

The Successful Applicant

The successful Health and Safety Manager will have experience in:

* Demonstrable understanding of Health & Safety legislation with experience in a similar role.

* NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety is essential, IOSH (Grad) is desirable.

* Experience of SSOW/SOP writing.

* Experience of Accident/Incident Investigation.

* Experience in successfully dealing with external regulatory bodies.

* 3PL experience is advantageous.

* Flexible and committed to achieving team/site objectives.

* Ability to build credible relationships with internal and external stakeholders - a skilled communicator.

* Ability to exercise sound and logical judgement.

* Effective time management skills with the ability to work to targets and timescales.

* High attention to detail and accuracy.

* A commitment to self-development and team development.

* Good Excel and data analysis skills.
