This integrated approach, with a focus on continuous learning and strong links to academia and industry, creates a crucible for innovation and a vibrant network for the spread of learning and best practice.Job DescriptionThe key responsibilities which will be overseen by the new Head of Finance & Governance, will include but are not limited too:Assist in the operation of the Financial Services to ensure that accurate and timely financial information is available to enable the Board to exercise control over its financial affairs.Responsible for managing the team responsible for the processing and production of the month end ledger, processing of all ledger feeder systems, operation of ledger close-down procedures, and monitoring the completion of all accruals and prepayments. Ensuring control account reconciliations are performed and corrective action taken promptly.Responsible for ensuring accurate and timely reports are produced to support the Board in delivering the key financial targetsParticipate in the review, development and enhancement of the Boards finance and banking systems to ensure these reflect technical developments and changes in accounting practice.Prepare and complete the Boards annual statutory accounts and month end returns to meet the requirements of the Board, the Scottish Government Health and Social Care Directorates and the Boards External Auditors, liaising and working alongside financial management staff to complete required returns.Operational lead for the preparation and consolidation of financial reports for the Senior Management Team, NHS Board and the Scottish Government, particularly in relation to financial accounting. This financial position must be reported in an accurate, appropriate and timely manner. The role is key to the Board's understanding of the financial position and identification of areas requiring corrective actionIdentify and evaluate staff training needs through the Personal Development Plan process to ensure the attainment and maintenance of the required skills to achieve the high standard of service requiredThe Successful ApplicantQualificationsA degree and relevant post graduate qualificationA recognised Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies (CCAB) accountancy full qualification or CIMA.
